Greetings from BVBCET Alumni Association.
I am indeed happy to share with you the progress that your College is making, its growth plans and a new initiative taken up to support the meritorious students from financially weaker sections of the society studying in BVBCET.
KLE’s BVBCET has been contributing through its leadership in Education in the transformation of this region of Karnataka. Today, ours is one of the few Autonomous Colleges in the state of Karnataka.
The heartening fact that I wish to share with you is that the number of local students taking admission to our Institution is increasing, which includes a sizable chunk from the financially weaker sections of the society. In our endeavor to provide educational opportunities for the meritorious and the needy students, we have started a new initiative called “Nurture Merit @ BVBCET”. I invite you to participate in this initiative.
What is Nurture Merit @ BVBCET?
It is the initiative to support meritorious but financially poor students. In this initiative, our College and Alumni Association are working together with VidyaPoshak (www.vidyaposhak.org) , a registered NGO functioning in this part of the country helping meritorious but poor students in higher education.
Facilitating Holistic Support
Vidya Poshak supports the students’ tuition fees and exam fees. College takes care of other fees. Alumni Association helps the needy by providing assistance for boarding and lodging. Books support and mentoring are two other important components of this system. Post-finance reviews including progress monitoring and analysis are done to assess the impact
How do we function?
• Applications are invited at College at the time of admission to first year.
• Staff and volunteers of Vidya Poshak visit the homes of scholarship applicant to assess their family income, needs and standards of living to ensure that the deserving students are supported.
How can you participate?
• You may support a student for boarding by contributing Rs.11,000/= per year.
• You can take care of a student by sponsoring both boarding and lodging which comes to Rs.22,000/= per year.
• You may create an endowment by donating Rs.1,25,000/=or Rs.2,50,000/=, whose interest will be used to support a student annually either for boarding/ hostel or for both..
Till date for last three academic years including 2009-2010, Your Alumni Association has helped twenty such meritorious and poor students spending on an average of Rs.3.8 lakhs. The need is growing as the intake of Our Institution is increasing steadily, which would touch about fifty by 2012, which calls for an endowment deposit of about Rs.1.5 Crores.
During calender year 2009, we have collected to the tune of Rs.11.85 lakhs as endowment amounts.
1978& 79 batch has donated Rs.5.0 lakhs
Mr.Rajendra Todalbagi(Mech,1982) Rs.1.1 lakhs
1984 batch (Classics-84)(assured) Rs.5.75lakhs
We do need your support in this noble cause that your Association has taken up. We are definitely confident we shall achieve the target at the earliest.
Please do contribute and motivate your classmates to do the same and feel Proud to be a part of a good endeavour of helping meritorious poor BVBian friends.
Please send your contribution in the form of Cheque / DD in favour of “The President, Alumni Association, BVB College of Engg & Tech.”, payable at Hubli.
This donation is exempted from income tax under 80(G).
